Mr. William Strong, Sr., 88 of Widener, Arkansas died on Monday, December 29, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Born Wednesday, May 5, 1926 in Lockwood, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Mrs. Louis Strong and the late Mrs. Ophelia Austin Strong.

He served as a Steward's Mate second class in the Navy from 1944 until 1946. He was a Veteran of World War II.

He was retired from Yale Hoist Manufacturer. Surviving are sons, Alvin Strong of Sioux City, IA, Mr. James Strong of Springdale, AR, Mr. Donald Strong of Forrest City, AR, Mr. Charles Strong of Andrews AFB, MD and Mr. Rickey Beard, Sr. of Memphis, TN, daughters, Ms. Mary Janice Strong of Memphis, TN, Mrs. Georgia Johnson of Madison, AR, Mrs. Willie Ann Witherspoon of Enterprise, AL, Mrs. Brenda Davis of Rockledge, FL and Ms. Barbara Annette Strong-Green of Columbus, GA, brothers, Mr. Samuel Stringer of Ft Smith, AR and Mr. Leon James of Little Rock, AR, sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Rodgers of Memphis, TN and Mrs. Ruthie B. Howell-Jones of Memphis, TN; 49 grand children; 38 great grand children. Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Cornerstone M B Church in Madison, AR.

Interment will be in Casteel Cemetery, Forrest City, AR.
