Mr. Fred Carneal Paige, Sr., 74 of Forrest City, Arkansas died on Monday, April 29, 2013, at his home in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Born Sunday, August 28, 1938 in Little Dixie, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Clinton Paige, Sr. and the late Mary Chism Paige. He was the husband of Myrtle Garrett Paige.
He received his education in Arkansas from Augusta High School, AM&N College (UAPB), and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and pursued further studies in Adult Education. His career included teaching at Mildred Jackson High School (Hughes, AR), Forrest City Jr. and Sr. High Schools, and working with governmental agencies such as the Farm Workers Program, Neighborhood Youth Corp and the Older Worker's program. He also served as personnel director of the Lee County Cooperative Clinic in Marianna, Child Support caseworker in St. Francis County, and Coordinator of Adult GED for Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute. He retired in 2001 after working for the UAPB Small Farm Project for many years.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Forrest City, AR.
Surviving are wife, Mrs. Myrtle Paige of Forrest City, sons, Mr. Fred C. Paige, Jr. of Denver, CO and Mr. Ronnie E. Paige of Little Rock, AR, daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline D. Thompson of Lancaster, TX, sister, Mrs. Berlin Connor of Pine Bluff, AR; 4 grand children and 6 great grand children.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4th at Salem Baptist Church located at 105 Haven Street Forrest City, Arkansas. Interment will be in Forrest Park Cemetery, Forrest City, AR.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Clay Funeral Home, 116 N. Water St. in Forrest City and Memorial Service at Christ Episcopal Church, Friday, May 3rd from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 1120 S. Ophelia St., Forrest City.
